Secure Your Videos With The New Password-Protect Feature

We often receive requests about adding new options for sharing GoAnimate videos. These can range from various video-hosting platforms to email, social and others.

Today, we’re happy to announce that we have made sharing easier (and more secure) for our GoTeam subscribers with our new password-protect feature.

Introducing The New Password-Protect Feature

We’ve added this feature as a way for GoTeam subscribers to be able to share secure or private videos by password-protecting them. GoTeam members can share these videos securely with external clients or with other people in their organization without any hassle.

How It Works

To begin, change your video’s privacy settings to “Password-Protected.” You can do this in two ways:

1) Set your video to Password-Protected when you save it

2) Or, make this change from the Sharing menu on the video page

Once you have set the video to Password-Protected, use the email sharing option to send it to anyone you want viewing the video, as shown below:

You can also select the following permissions for anyone you invited to your video:

• Can edit (Producer) – Producers can directly edit, or copy, a video shared by another team member.
• Can comment (Reviewer) – Reviewers can comment on, but not edit or copy, a shared video

How Viewers Can Access A Password-Protected

When you invite a person to view a password-protected video, they will receive an email that includes a URL to the video:

After clicking the secure link, the viewer will be given an option to get a password:

This will generate a second email for the viewer that contains a password. The viewer can then enter the password and watch the video:

Wrapping It Up

It’s that simple!

Now you can securely share videos with members in your GoTeam account, anyone in your organization or external stakeholders.

The benefit of this feature is you can share private or sensitive videos that only select people can access. If the video is shared again by a viewer or ends up in front of an unintended audience, they would be unable to access the video without being invited by a GoTeam member.
